08/08/2022 Car Stopped Following Complaints
North Yorkshire Police stopped a Volkswagen Golf occupied by men with dogs near Monk Fryston on the night of 2nd August following complaints from residents. The men and dogs were suspected to be hare-coursing in the area. Their details were taken and the men will be served warning letters as part of a staged process.

06/08/2022 Fatal Collision Witness Appeal
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a two-vehicle collision on the B1222 on Wednesday evening shortly after 6.30pm when a black Honda motorbike travelling towards Sherburn-in-Elmet collided with a silver Toyota Hilux 4x4 also travelling in the direction of Sherburn. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision. He was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died shortly after. If you saw either vehicle beforehand or have dashcam footage please call 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team.

Kippax now has ten defibrillators scattered around the community at medical centres, sports facilities and community centres. Some were installed by Kippax Parish Council. Others were funded by local businesses and local parent groups.

Traffic was disrupted on the M1 northbound by a road traffic incident between junctions 45 and 46 on Monday afternoon. One lane was closed and traffic backed up all the way to junction 43.

28/07/2022 Police Appeal for Accident Witnesses
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Kippax on Wednesday. Roads Policing Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the incident on Longdike Lane at about 11.05am when a Honda Jazz came off the road and drove into a hedge. Emergency services attended and the 86-year-old male driver was taken to hospital where he is described as being seriously ill.

A man flashed a female horse rider in a wood near a North Yorkshire village on Sunday morning. The rider was taking her horse out for an early morning hack on Sunday July 17 to Bywater Wood, near Hillam. A man exposed himself to her near the entrance of the wood, which is a popular walking and horse-riding spot.

19/07/2022 Bin Collection Advisory from Council
Leeds City Council has issued an important bin collection update amid the extreme weather conditions which has seen record breaking temperatures in Yorkshire. People across Leeds have been urged to put out their bins before 6am as collections will begin early to allow bin crews to work in lower temperatures. A spokesperson for the authority said collections will start at 6am and crews will not return to collect any bins put out after this time.

The Environment Agency has detailed the water companies? ?shocking? performance in 2021 and said company bosses should face jail for the worst pollution incidents. In February this year Yorkshire Water agreed to pay ?300,000 to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust after a sewage discharge led to pollution in Leeds in 2018. The company breached its environmental permit due to the unauthorised discharge from its Garforth Storm Tanks, which led to a pollution incident at Kippax Beck.

Helen Reed from Aberford was stunned to discover her pack of cheese and onion crisps contained a rogue potato, which she said was ?soggy? and ?smelly. She contacted REAL crisps about the bizarre find, and as an apology they sent over a box containing a few bags featuring different flavours.
